PUBLIC HEALTH DENTISTRY

 

The Department of Public Health Dentistry (PHD) is the specialty that inculcates the expertise and leadership qualities among students towards population-based dentistry, oral health surveillance, and community-based oral health promotion strategies. The department offers a wide range of exposure to epidemiological surveys in urban, semi-urban, and rural settings. The students are encouraged to provide integrated, curative, and preventive oral health care with the help of air-conditioned state of art Mobile Dental Vans and portable Dental chair units. Two fully functional satellite clinics are attached to the department to enhance the reach of dental health services in rural areas.

The department is also working along with the central government project “Rashtriya Bal Swasthaya Karyakram” with organizing regular dental check-ups and treatment programs for children of government schools in the District of Sri Ganganagar. The department has a tie-up with the Rotary Club to organize and carry out dental check-ups and treatment camps in the states of Rajasthan, Haryana, and Punjab. State-of-the-art equipment in the department enables the students in rendering treatment of the highest standard to the patients. Students are encouraged to carry out comprehensive treatment procedures in collaboration with other departments to instil confidence in them to treat various dental health problems efficiently. The department encourages students to carry out scientific studies and publish the same in reputed National/International Journals. Basic training in SPSS enables the post-graduates to carry out the statistical analysis themselves. The overall training goes a long way in lying a firm foundation for the students and prepares them in getting placements in the field of Public Health Dentistry and opens avenues even in International Programs.

PG Program

UG Program

Undergraduate students start their public health dentistry learning in the third year of the BDS course. Where they are taught about recording indices, educating people about their oral health and raising awareness.

Interns & CDE

In the Internship program, students get exposure of ample number of patients. They gain confidence in doing all type of cases independently.
