Prosthodontics and Crown & Bridge

Student Life

Waking up to a smoke alarm as left the burner on last night working on the patient’s cast. Oh!! Prostho is a wonderful journey starting with the joy of learning pre-clinical as the foremost step towards a successful prosthodontist. Entering the department as a toddler with the enthusiasm and nervousness of meeting new people, making new friends around and will power to begin a dip in the ocean of knowledge. While trying to cope with the new environment, some seniors make you feel more comfortable, creating a more friendly atmosphere by rolling out the red carpet and making us feel the warmth. Crossing barricades of presentations, seminars and lectures, introducing ourselves to the new materials while getting familiar with them gradually fades out the first year.

Then comes the clinical part which exposes you to a great diversity of patients. Struggling from making a perfect impression, getting a makeover of us done by the shower of acrylic and plaster, and bringing a radiant smile on the patient’s face by creating a perfect alignment of teeth is all we do. Not just the teeth, but also making a person embrace his beauty by replacing his lost organs like eyes, ears, and nose makes us feel proud and happy. Helping the patient in proper mastication by replacing his lost teeth using fixed/removal dental prostheses and implants adds another miracle to this branch. Prosthodontics has been enriching. It is extremely humbling when the patients show their gratitude with pleasant smile. To be able to improve the quality of life and restore the patient’s confidence to face the world is priceless. Just as the famous verse “what we know is a drop, what we don’t know is an ocean”, there is still more to gain as a prosthodontist.
