ORTHODONTICS AND DENTOFACIAL ORTHOPAEDICS

 

Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics is a speciality of dentistry that deals with the supervision, guidance and correction of growing and mature dentofacial structures. It deals with establishing aesthetic harmony along with structural balance and stability of function of teeth and jaws.

It deals with the correction of malaligned teeth, jaw discrepancies using various fixed appliances, removable appliances, myofunctional, orthopaedic appliances, orthognathic surgeries and various aesthetic surgical procedures.

PG Program

The residency programme is a 3 year long programme leading to a post graduate degree (Masters in Dental Surgery – MDS) in the speciality of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics.

UG Program

The undergraduate students start their learning of the basic principles of orthodontics from the 3rd year of BDS course, through various lectures. Demonstrations on basic wire bending techniques are given to train them in appliance fabrication.
