Undergraduate Course

We deal with the first year and third year undergraduate students in our specialty. We teach them the basics of developmental and histological aspects of the tooth, oral and para-oral structures.

Our well-equipped clinical, hematological, microbiological, histopathology laboratories help us to interpret clinical findings and provide standard reports in diagnosis.

The department is well equipped with large practical halls for the undergraduate students, for dental anatomy/histology and for oral pathology. We have abundant number of microscopes, microscopic slides, study models, charts, hard and soft tissue specimens for undergraduate training.

The undergraduate BDS students are exposed to the study of Oral Histology, Oral Embryology and Tooth Morphology in their first year. Live demonstrations of wax tooth carvings are shown to the students in small batches that give a practical experience to our students.

Third year BDS students are taught Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology. We elaborate on various pathological entities that can affect the oral and maxillofacial region. Various microscopical slides, pathological specimens and charts are used to impart knowledge of various structures-both at gross and cellular level –in health and disease. After attaining an understanding of the normal anatomy and physiology, the students are then taught the various pathological states and diseases of the oral cavity and also how the oral cavity is affected in medical diseases.
